About

In the Basque language, EKI, means Sun, the source of life. In Basque Country mythology, the sun, Eki, is the daughter of Mother Earth together with the moon; GAI means capable.
We humans are also children of Mother Earth. That is why “ekigai” tries to evoke the sun, a force that inhabits each one of us and is associated with our innate creative capacity.
“ekigai” would like to offer you different safe spaces where you can live experiences in a friendly and creative way through art, movement, and sound. Nature, as part of us, is the fundamental basis of each proposal, whether directly or indirectly, from which we will start.
This will lead you to explore new communication tools with yourself and your surroundings. It Will be a transformative experience that allows you to explore your identity, emotions, and visions without external restrictions.
Thanks to the creative process, you will be able to explore the depths of your being, confront your inner emotions and express your visions without fear of external judgment.
You will enter into contact with the private and intimate space of your body and mind to remember your essence and all that you do know.
“ekigai” has the clear intention of guiding you to acquire tools that will help you to give form to what you cannot express with words:

About Me

Alaitz Muro Larizgoitia (Bilbao, 1978) is a pedagogue, art therapist, and creator. In 2019, she trained as an art therapist, and since then, she has dedicated herself to offering spaces for creation and therapeutic accompaniment.
Her abstract plastic work stands out for its emotionality and expressive complexity. The work in both areas emerges from a very personal and intimate place, evoking the strength and beauty of our inner world.
She holds a degree in Pedagogy from the UPV/EHU (2002) and an Integrative Master in Art Therapy from the University of Girona (2022). She studied Educational Psychomotor Practice at ‘Luzaro Eskola’, UNED, Bergara (2007) and Research Sufficiency in Psychodidactics, UPV/EHU (2006). She studied Printmaking at ‘La Taller’, Bilbao (2007-08). Trained in therapeutic art, she facilitates the innerdance technique (2024) and uterine dance (2021). In 2024, she studied with Abel Azcona on ‘Art as autobiography’ around the theory of ‘performance art’.
His first professional steps were in the field of education and as a storyteller throughout the Basque Country. In 2008, her deep connection with the sea and nature, which is very present in her work, led her to explore new territories beyond her borders. Without forgetting her origins, she exchanged the classroom for the sea and until 2019, she lived in different countries of Southeast Asia and the Pacific: the Solomon Islands, Raja Ampat (Southwest Papua, Indonesia) and Thailand among others, in constant interaction with Nature and a diversity of ancestral and racial cultures. She studied with the master Takahiko Sato (Kyoto) the techniques of Kingutsi (‘gold carpentry’), the Japanese art of restoring broken pottery with gold, and Maki-e, (‘powdered painting’), the most sophisticated of lacquering techniques. Between 2017 and 2019 she lived in Thailand where she trained in the practice of yoga, pranayama and meditation at the ‘Samahita Retreat Center’.
Her experiences she underwent were a journey of inner reconstruction and marked the beginning of her path as an art therapist and her artistic career. Art gives her a new language with which to express herself, a language that she invites us to explore together with her. Over time, she has developed the therapeutic and artistic values that define her work and a way of doing things.
She is currently investigating the forms that are traced consciously and unconsciously, visibly or invisibly, in the creative act. To this end, she offers spaces where she accompanies people, children and adults, through art therapy and innerdance. She is committed to developing strategies and tools that promote free expression through art.
